Srinagar, Jul 21 (KNO): The Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association on Monday expressed serious concern over the non-implementation of a government order issued in 2021 in the Kashmir region.
They said the order, issued by the Administrative Council under the 74th Constitutional Amendment, mandates the transfer of certain divisions of the Jal Shakti Department (Public Health Engineering) along with staff, infrastructure and funds to the Municipal Corporations across Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Sajad Ahmad Parray, President of the J&K Casual and Daily Wagers Forum, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that while the order has been fully implemented in the Jammu division, it remains un-executed in Kashmir.
He alleged that arbitrary decisions are being taken in the region, leading to growing discontent among employees and a legal case that is currently under consideration in the Supreme Court.
The Association further highlighted that despite the government constituting a high-level committee to address the issue, no concrete steps have been taken so far.
As a mark of protest, the Association announced a demonstration to be held on July 22 (tomorrow), urging the government to implement the constitutional provision in the Kashmir region as well—(KNO)
